Last weekend we had so much fun shooting Erica’s bridal session at the Astin Mansion. She was absolutely stunning! And the historic mansion was just the perfect setting. Trust me, we are dying to share some of the amazing shots…but we can’t…we have to wait until after their wedding in JUNE!!! Ahhhh! Well, if there’s one good thing about being waaaaay behind on our blogging, it’s that we still have some photographic goodness to show off of our lovely bride, Erica.
Alex and Erica’s engagement session was non-stop laughter from beginning to end. Honestly, sometimes it is a challenge to get clients to loosen up, relax, and just have fun in front of the camera. That was not the case for these two…at all. They were completely comfortable…giggling, talking, cuddling up for a shot. It made our job almost too easy! They are so beautiful and so in love, and I think it really shows in every image.
Congrats, Alex and Erica! ❤ you guys!
How adventurous are Andrea and Kipper?! When we first met, they asked us if we would be open to traveling and trying out something different, and we never could’ve imagined that we’d be visiting theme parks petting dolphins, traveling back country roads, and ending their session in a pool with the bride in a wedding gown and the groom in slacks and a dress shirt. With their wedding day quickly approaching, we can’t imagine what’s in store for us there, but we’re totally excited for the prospects of what’s to come. Check out a small sampling of our favorites from their Engagement Session!
Once upon a time we set a rule for ourselves that we would not photograph close friends or family. I guess it might sound a little silly for those of you who aren’t photographers, but trust me, there are a thousand reasons for this well-intentioned decision. I will spare you the laundry list and just say that my top reason was the unreal PRESSURE you put on yourself as a professional to do an amazing job.
Well, it looks like our “no family” rule has officially flown out the window. It started with Thomas’s brother’s wedding followed by my best friend’s wedding…and now my one and only baby sister, Erin, is getting married. At the end of the day, we figure that since we’ve been blessed with a smidgen of creative talent and while we’re on this spinning rock, why not work with the people we love?! It is an absolute honor to be able to photograph the friends and family that are so close to our hearts. We can never thank all of them enough for their love, support, and laughter. ❤
Erin + Mike: Part I
I (Erika) am a cat person. I was raised around cats and quite a few of them. I used to dress my cats up in doll clothes and parade them around like fashion models. Needless to say, they probably hated me! Haha! I never ever wanted a dog…they bark, they jump on you, they have to be walked, they lick you…YUCK!
Then I met Thomas, a dog person through and through. Soon after we started dating he wanted to get a pet…more specifically, a dog. I wasn’t terribly keen on the idea at all. I could just picture this slobbering, flee-infested, chewing-everything-in-sight mongrel taking over the house. No thank you!! Against my better judgement, I caved and went puppy shopping with Thomas. We bought the very first puppy we held…a little black lab, Kyle. Those big floppy paws & ears, that cold, wet nose, and those sweet, brown eyes…it was all over in an instant…I was in LOVE. Flash forward to today, we’ve had 4 beautiful puppies who’ve grown into loyal, fun-loving, quirky members of our family. The other day Thomas asked me, “Did I turn you into a ‘dog person’?” Well, while I still have a soft spot in my heart for cats, I would have to reply YES. I AM A DOG PERSON.
We often have couples ask us if they should bring their pets to the engagement session. I always love to include pets in the e-session…of course, not every single picture, but definitely a few shots. They are going to be a member of your new family, so why not?! We looooove meeting each and every furry friend!
The other day Jaime and Craig brought their 3-month old jack russell terrier named Russell for their engagement session. (In case you’re wondering, he loves to give “puppy kisses”…:D) His energy and excitement was just the perfect way to start out the day! Enjoy one of my favorite shots with Russell from their session…notice the cute, little puppy tongue sticking out! He’s too CUTE for words!!!
